I am getting ready to purchase an in car communication system. I have a few track events this summer where I will have the same driving coach for mid ohio, gingerman, and road america.

Anyway I am looking at the chatterbox and I want to hard wire.

Just curious what everyone here is using or has used.

I appreciate your advice.

Thank you

You certainly don't need to hardwire. I can't really see any advantage. I've got mine attached to my helmet. The hard part is getting your speaker and mike in the best and most comfortable spot inside your helmet. And getting that right in a passengers helmet is even tougher.

Since this is mainly for your coach, I would assume your coach is instructing and therefore might already have a chatterbox on their helmet. If that is the case (and you've got your own chatterbox), then you simply need a cable that allows two chatterbox modules to be muxed together.

I don't instruct yet but I just put a 'full helmet' setup in my Bell M4. Since most of my friends who instruct use the Chatterbox setup and I still have them ride with me I wanted a full time system they could easily hook into. The trick is to get the speakers where your ears are.

I basically deconstructed the lower padding section and inserted my ear speakers and mic bud just under the liner, then hot glued everything back together. FWIW, this was All hot glued from the factory.

Chatterbox is the only one I have seen.
You get get those blue communicators for $50.00 but they are garbage.
