Jackpoint Jackstands question.

I know there is a big thread on another forum about them but I thought I would ask here.
I am placing an order for a pair. It seems many have bought 4 and I do not know why you would need 4.
If I jack the car from the rear and use a Jackpoint at that location, the front of the car is then up also so I can just place a regular stand that I already have at that location. Correct?
So the question is: Do you really need 4 for any reason?
Thanks, Rich

Re: Jackpoint Jackstands question.

When you jack up from the rear the front will raise as well but not to the same height, I think you will need to be careful with the balance of the car. Also, when you jack up both rears, the front will be back on the ground. So, if you jack up, lets say, the left side first with the car inclined forward due to less clearence for the another jack stand, and then you jack up the right rear, I would be concerned that the car may become unstable on the left front and slide forward. Although, I think it is doable.

if you don't mind post how that goes. I would be interested in checking out any photos or opinion you have.

One reason you wouldn't jack up from the rear would be if you have dynamic motor mounts. Lifting from the engine isn't a good idea.

I went with 2 sets, they work well, and allow me to get the car up in the air very quickly with no hassle. Makes dealing with the center locks a bit less painful.
