GT TECH 101 - Event Input and Details

Hello All:

HBL Porsche has agreed to hold a GT Tech Session for our Register on August 6, Saturday, which they will have GT3/RS in display and on the lift to go over the details of the vehicle. A GT specialist will also be on hand to answer technical questions, and we will have a cookout and socialize with all that are in attendance. It is an exciting event for me as I know HBL puts out great events for all PCA, and this will also correspond with the Tech Inspection session for Potomac Region's PorscheFest event the following weekend.

I will post more details in this thread, but I am also looking for any topics you would liked covered during this tech session, so we can get back the answer you all have been wondering to the best ability that the dealership can share of course. HBL is owned by Penske Automotive, and hence they have been on the favorites list of PCNA for some time now, and I'll leave it at that. Also, the Service Manager, Chad Morrison, is the best I have ever dealt with, and this dealership actually takes care of my car primarily, and they know very well what I do with it ;)

So, keep your questions coming, and put your name into the list if you intend to attend.

Attendees:

1- Fatih
2- Stu
3- Bman
4- NeoMatrix
5- Lightweight (maybe)
6-
.
.

Topic Suggestion:

- CL recall, differences
- Coolant Lines
- LSD
- Brakes - Tapering
- Brakes - Ice Mode
- Engine Maintenance
- Service History, weaknesses and strengths of the 997.1 and .2 cars, typical and atypical warranty claims from the service manager's perspective
- ... (let's keep adding)

Fatih,

I think I should be able to get there. Put me down.

We will run starting at 10 am till probably 3 or 4 pm. The first part will be the tech inspection for PorscheFest, and our Tech 101 will start afterwards; but we are working the details as we speak.

Are they looking for any donor cars to demonstrate oil changes? Diff re-pack? etc... :)

An example GT2 on the lift would be superb ;) We can discuss any topic you all want, I think the diff topic would be good.

I keep making this mistake... I mistakenly "edited" your message, rather than "quote" it. Those two buttons are next to one another on my screen, I confuse them sometimes, sorry. The above message is not yours obviously, sorry about that :(

If there's a GT2 on the lift I may be tempted to drive down from PA for the event :)

No problem....I'll send you my standard rider. Green M&M's, ample suppy of Crown Royal, etc....

Seriously, I happy to bring it. I'll be at the Glen, hopefully you will too, the weekend before, so I just need to make it presentable in time.

You're awesome, thank you Brian. So, I am putting you down as a definite, not a maybe ;)

Also, it may be better to have the car as-is from Glen, so we can see all the speed on it :D

So, Lightweight should we count you in too?

Thanks for organizing. You've put me under pressure to attend :) I'm an 80% yes (work occasionally calls me away).
Additional (GT2-related) topics of interest to me would be:
Wheels and tires
Brakes (rotor options / sizes / caliper clearance)
Suspension (incl. GT2 vs. GT2RS vs. GT3RS)

No pressure at all, no commitments ;) this is more of a social event while enjoying few GTs from underneath :)

I would like to attend but have a customer commitment that weekend, unless something changes I won't be able to make it.

I hope you get to make it Todd, but customers come 2nd to family :)

If I take that attitude, I won't be able to afford any more ho ho's :(

Saw your car this weekend but could never find you.
