Brake puck holders
You guys know about the little clips that hold in the pucks after the rubber burns off?
Makes changing pads a hell of a lot heasier.. Another option is Titanium pistons so you don't need them anymore appearently. I will ask for some pictures to post too. |
Re: Brake puck holders
Hmm, I did not know.
Curious, why no need for titanium, I thought titanium was good because it dissipates heat faster. |
Re: Brake puck holders
It is either or.
You can use little clips for about $6.00 a piece to prevent pucks from falling out when you are changing pads or take the pucks out completely and change out pistons for titanium ones. I hope to have pics for this to create a post. |
Re: Brake puck holders
Where are the pictures? A link to where they can be bought would also be a big help. Thanks.

Re: Brake puck holders
Sorry for the delay.
I got them from 0rbit Racing. He was going to send me pics but not yet received. I have not changed pads since they put them on. |
Re: Brake puck holders
I would like to see pictures as well. How exactly are they installed?

Re: Brake puck holders
I just went to Orbits website and they don't show anything. I don't want to call until I know more.
TRACKCAR, can you provide some more info on the clips? How much $$, have they given you good service, how long are they supposed to last, any down side? |
Re: Brake puck holders
I think they are about $6.00 a pice so not much money. Just give them a call and ask for Rodger the owner, he will send you some. Easy access shop; I annoy him about twice a day with questions ;-)
They work great. Their only function is to keep the pucks falling out while changing pads. |

Finally a picture of the brake puck holders:

Re: Brake puck holders
Thanks for the pics. For the life of me I can't visualize how they would fit and work to hold the ceramic pucks in place.

Re: Brake puck holders
I just called and talked to Rodger, great guy. Ordered these. Also encouraged him to write a tech article or two for the Registry. A lot of experience and I think he would be an awesome contributor if he choose to do so :pals:

Doing rear brakes today, slid the holders in
Pretty neat idea |
Re: Brake puck holders
Thanks for that picture. I see how they fit now but don't understand how they anchor the puck or attach to anything that would keep the pucks from falling out. Just looks like they fit in the puck's hole and since the puck is a hard material, I don't think they cause them to expand. Can you clarify this for me? I notice that the puck's rubber ring is deteriorated like mine so the inserts must be doing their job.

Re: Brake puck holders
If you look at Peters picture above there is two spring claws
One goes in the puck, the other goes in the piston on the caliper Push the calw into the puck first, the push the other claw into the piston I'll try to take pictures when I do the fronts in a few weeks.....if nobody beats me to it |
