Could be an interesting topic;
I am researching:

- before going to Barber last weekend my right rear TPS did not wrok, even driving on the street with my track wheels.
- Replaced right rear wheel, looked at TPS, was identical, same part number.
-It did not solve anything. The right rear would work only for a couple of laps, then every time it would give me a flat tire warning and it would stop working and display – instead of PSI’s.

All other 3 sensors worked every time, all of the time!
This leads me to believe that the TPS can be made to work.
The last time we replaced the sensor on the car (Left rear) and it made no difference.

Replace the right rear sensor and I go to VIR with the same wheels on the same corners.
Swap wheels around just to see what the TPS will do?
Etc. Etc. There is something funny going on with TPS, but amazingly enough the other 3 worked all the time!

I think swaping wheels around to test would be a good step. I should be getting my track wheels this weekend and I am going to switch to them just to drive around the street for couple of days before VIR and see what happens, I'll keep you posted.

I am only guessing that you might have an issue with your TPS. May be Trackrat can look up for info in PIWIS to see if there is any info on it.

I saw a show on TV that said every time a sensor's position is changed it has to be recalibrated for that position. Don't know why but that is what was said.

I've just today figured out the part#'s in my track wheels was different then OEM. Seems parts have been updated from year ago in MKII.

Will try to post part# asap.
The oem work great also on track! Accurate too.

Hmmm, if they are accurate, they may be worth it. I don't have the TPS sensors in the track wheels, they haven't caused me any issue beyond the annoying dash lights.

I originally got them in March '10. Wheels have been to a few places exchanging tires near tracks. I hope that with all the right part numbers it will work.

Putting sensors in all wheels will help too ;-)

I picked up sensors for my track wheels. The part number is 958.361.661.00. The part is labeled with a VW/Audi part of 7P0.907.275. It's supplied by Beru. I haven't installed them yet, just finally received my new wheels.

Trakcar, do you find that TPMS work on the track to keep an eye on pressures? I was thinking of putting TPMS in my CCW wheels. Even though the ( ! ) light would be on the pressure readings would still work.

Late to the party, sorry :(

I buy my sensors from Tirerack, good prices and OE stuff. Be sure to buy the sensor and the "install kit". Damon Witters (O: 888 428 8355 ext. 643) over there knows our cars and is a good guy.

I always use my TPMS dash display on track for awareness of how much pressures are going up during a session. I see 34+ psi and know I may as well come in and bleed air. While folks will say TPMS is useless for track I would take the other side and say I find it invaluable. For me it always works perfectly.

Obviously you want to double check and start your day with a gauge, preferably graduated on .1 (tenths) of a PSI increments but the TPMS is perfect for all but racer$.

Yes, you do get flat tire warnings, but I think it can be fixed with PIWIS. I only get it on the rear tires! And yes you do always see the PSI's. Accurate to within one PSI. I have been braking the TPS. I wonder if the new part number will hold up better.

I don't use them at the track but I am checking pressures after each session... hmmm maybe I should give them a shot at track. I have always felt that since checking so frequently that it was added cost and potential added complication

I like to see the pressures come up and had 2 real flat tires on my car. I like to know..
