Cup Brake Pads on GT3?
Does anyone know if the 996/7 cup brake pads are compatible with the 997.2 GT3/RS? They seem to be much cheaper than Pagid Yellows, if they fit, I might give them a try.

This is why I was dissapointed with the Pagid Blues. This is what they looked like on July 17th. http://home.comcast.net/~michael.sou...s/IMG_5873.JPG And this is what they looked like on October 18th, after 4,825 miles, 6 track days and only 3 months: http://home.comcast.net/~michael.sou...s/IMG_6975.JPG http://home.comcast.net/~michael.sou...s/IMG_6983.JPG |
Ouch!
Supposedly the yellow 29s last a lot longer, but they are ridiculously priced. I intend to try either Carbotech or Endless pads, see how they do. Btw, I think I mentioned this previously: I had the stock pads on the car last weekend, which I believe is Yellow 19s. They performed very well, I had a lot of confidence in the brakes going from 150 down to 45 mph repeatedly. I haven't taken them out for inspection, but I'll take some pictures when I do. |

Pull a pad out, and snap a picture of the back of it. I'd love to know exactly what they are putting on those cars. |
But are those 19s or 29s? Frankly, I do not know what they are, something to ask during tech tactics maybe ;)

The stock brakes on my car squeel as well, not like the way in your video, but they do.

My pads always squeel like that. Both stock and R29.
I pay about $734.00 for my pads the last time I checked. I will try Endless next time I go to Sebring, supposedly the last a bit better. I don't know how pricing compares. yes, the same pads CUP and ours. |
Once I get the prices from Endless, I will let you know.
I have been using Hawk pads for the past 8 years on my cars, I love'em, especially HT-10. For the Cayman, they were $350 for all four, now jumping to $750/800 with Pagids seem hard to swallow for me :( Carbotechs seem to be about $500, we'll see how much are the Endless ones. |
I just received the prices (MSRP), depending on compound, they are between $1200 to $1800 :D
So, I am going with Carbotech and see how they'll do, I just need to pick the right compound ;) |
I should probably confess that on my car I am not using the factory noise dampers (to make pad swaps easier). Nor have I chamferred the leading edge of the pads. I suppose if I did those two things, my pads might be quieter.
