I will be attending VIR March 16-18. Will be my first time on the track. Any insight into the difficulty of handling the track? Will be coming from Connecticut with a group from CVR Region.

VIR is challenging IMO. It is not challenging to learn the first time, but it is very challenging to master it. And since it is a long track with at least 17 turns (depending on how you count), making mistakes in any one of the turns is almost a given. Some turns are not forgiving, such as T5 thru 6a or the uphill S section, or the T9 (South Bend), so caution is the key. At the same time, it has the combination of tight turns, wide turns, increasing/decreasing turns and two long straights that you reach 150-160 mph, so it the most fun track I have been to, not that I have driven many different tracks.

Looking forward to seeing/meeting you there. I am sure you have seen many videos of the track, it will help to study them before stepping onto the track the first time

Fatih, Thank you for a bit of insight into the track. Every little bit helps. I just attended the 48 hours of Sebring. It was my first time on the track and my first time on the track with my GT3 RS. Took some time to learn the track...flat and bumpy...but by Sunday afternoon I felt good and was aggressive.

I am looking forward to VIR. Everyone says it is a great track. I will look for you there. It will be on us soon.

Here is a link to a nicely written VIR driving notes by a very long time VIR attendee and BMW CCA chief instructor, JoElla John:

Here is the link to our friendly Safest GT driver competition:

http://gt2gt3cup.org/showthread.php?t=370

About this special wine:

Touriga Nacional

Is a variety of red wine grape, considered by many to be Portugal's finest. Despite the low yields from its small grapes, it plays a big part in the blends used for ports, and is increasingly being used for table wine in the Douro and Dão. Touriga Nacional provides structure and body to wine, with high tannins and concentrated flavors of black fruit. Jancis Robinson has compared its relationship with Touriga Francesa to the partnership between Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, the former providing structure, the latter filling out the bouquet.

That was a blast this weekend! Great to see everyone. I'll try to get some pics and vid up later. Oh yeah, and a write-up of my first weekend in a GT3 all over again.

It was really good to see you (particularly in a GT3 ), Scott and others after a long period of time. I also got to meet personally, finally, 930man. I had a blast this weekend, the company was superb, and thank God, I did not loose too much of my driving, although it hasn't improved either.

Looking forward to your impressions of the GT3 Dell and the vids.

It was nice to meet you at VIR. My first time there. what a great track. Definitely will go back. Still trying to figure out the criteria for the 3rd "safest" driver award??? Must have been the smiles and waves to the corner works as I passed each lap.

Here are few quick snapshots I took of the GT3's last weekend. I have some more but I've hit the upper limit of my photo uploads!
